Where do you gather your style inspiration?
I am influenced by all of my lovely, artistic friends, but my wardrobe is largely determined by comfort. I can get inspired by the challenge of creating new ensembles from the same old pieces in my closet.
What is your favorite Kick Pleat purchase?
Impossible question! Currently, the Caron Callahan Morris pant are in heavy rotation, but I still love and wear things I bought years ago.
What is important to you in terms of your personal style?
Comfort, quality, interesting shapes, unexpected color/details... can it withstand sticky toddler hands?
How would you describe the aesthetic of your home?
Our home is bright, full of art & plants, comfortable (sensing a theme here), kid-proof. It will always be a perpetual work-in-progress; I like change.
How do you spend your free time?
As a mother, extra time is hard to come by. Fortunately, I really enjoy my work and it is varied, so I spend my time designing jewelry, arranging flowers, or working on other design related projects. If I'm not in the studio, I might be out exploring the green belt with my family or spending time on a more complicated recipe than usual. My latest self-care endeavor is a weekly Beyonce dance class.
Do you have a vacation spot that you love?
Telluride, CO and Highlands, NC are two isolated mountain towns I have lived in and my family has visited for generations. They are both situated in astonishingly beautiful parts of our country and never fail to renew my awe and love of nature.
How do you maintain balance in your life?
Creating something new brings me peace—whether it's designing, cooking, painting or engaging with my son in imaginary play. Setting aside time to work out, be outside and to meditate/listen are also essentials in my life.
